Well fall is in the air and the heat of summer, while not gone, is abating. This is a great time of the year to be a preformer. The outdoor festivals, rodeos and patio stages really get going this time of the year giving songwriters and performers many more venues to showcase their wares. So take some time to visit one of these venues near you. You never know what new music you may uncover from your local talent pool.

The road to the Hiway Home

I really took the long road home to get this point in my music career. For years I was, like many musicians, just flogging the dolphin in joints doing the same old same old week after week. My life took a turn where I just could or would not bring myself to more of that abuse. I got lucky and was hired to play a continuing solo gig where I could play the songs I wanted including mine. This changed directions for me. I soon began to get better paying nicer gigs like VIP rooms at championship rodeos and corporate events. This allowed me to write and try the songs on good crowds who really listened. Soon I met David Walker a producer from Nashville and we got together with a group of world calls musicians at his studio in March and laid down the CD Hiway Home. David was the part of my music that was missing. I left Nashville headed back to Ft Worth knowing we had something good. It was a long way around and some songs I had played for over 15 years are now part of this CD. I appreciate all the good folks who come to see us play and buy the CD and MP3s. It is doing real well on internet radio and I hope to soon see it on the Texas Music Chart to complete the Hiway Home.
